Oromia RHB exists to play a basic role to reduce morbidity, mortality and disability and improve the health status of the people in the region through providing comprehensive package of preventive, promotive, rehabilitative and curative health service via decentralized and democratized health system in collaboration with all stakeholders


Oromia National Regional State is the largest and most populous region in Ethiopia covering an area of 359,619.8 square Kms and having a total population of 33,914,866 with a male to female ration of 1:1. More than 85% of the population resides in rural areas where subsistence farming and animal husbandry are the main sources of livelihood. The region shares internal borders with all regions in the country except Tigray and international borders with South Sudan in the West and Kenya in the South. 

Administratively, the region is divided into 18 Zonal and 12 special town administrations which are further divided into 310 woredas and 7011 kebeles with 1,627,914 households. The region has 34 predominantly pastoralist districts characterized by extreme remoteness and lack of basic infrastructure that make healthcare services geographically inaccessible. The number of women in the reproductive age group is estimated to be 7,505,360 of whom pregnant comprise 1,142,931. The number of children under the ages of one year and five years are estimated to be 1,092,059 and 5,572,559, respectively.

Currently, there are 66 functioning Hospitals, 1363 Health Centers , 6559 Health Posts , 2 Regional Lab, 7 Blood Banks, other Public Health Facilities in the Region
